CONTEMPORARY INTERIOR DESIGN STYLE

Contemporary design is current design which includes open spaces, plenty of light, straight lines, plenty of glass, settle and wood and in some cases unusual layouts. Contemporary design is the interior design aesthetic which is presently popular at any given time. The current look is best described as luxury modern.

While the contemporary interior design styles share many design elements with the modern interior styles, softer edges & warmer neutrals. The introduction of natural materials separate it from its parent style, making it looks more comfortable & welcoming!

How to Define Contemporary Interior Design Style

1. Clean Lines

Surfaces in the contemporary home are clear and uncluttered. Resist the temptation to litter your surfaces with pictures in frames, ornaments or other clutter: instead, a few, well-chosen ornaments in striking colors will make the most impact against the clean walls and smooth lines of the modern home.

2. High Contrast

High contrast is the secret ingredient that gives those memorable spaces their impact. When used correctly, this foundation design principle can add a huge dose of visual interest to your interiors while simultaneously pulling it together. Many consider it an essential component to any successful interior.

For those who aren’t quite ready for their spaces to be that high contrast, there is a way to tone things down. You just need to add in additional neutrals. Doing so will give eyes a spot to rest while also providing a quiet background for your contrasting colors to pop out against.

3. Clean Appearance

Contemporary style is great for minimalists looking to steer clear of fussy prints, a heady mix of era’s, and for those looking to create a simple yet thoroughly realized harmony between varying elements while focusing on the architectural elements of a room.

4. Simplicity

As contemporary decorating style is timeless and defined by a classic approach to bringing a room together through luxurious simplicity, it’s a design movement that’s well worth the effort and investment as it will never go out of style and is easy to update.

5. Sophistication

While modern decor can feel cold, limiting, and overtly minimal, contemporary style is calming and serene, and is peppered with a focus on architectural elements, decorative details, attention to bold scales, and a concise color palette to create a warm space with easy sophistication.

6. Textures

To soften & warm up space, you can add heavily textured fabrics in plain colors for window treatments, pillows, or rugs! Colorful, fussy prints should be avoided since they confuse a clear space that is key to contemporary home interior. Two-tone prints work well in this case. You can also think about the zebra print pillow on a black leather chair, a large leopard print pillow thrown on a plain floor, or bold, heavily textured striped rug to anchor solid colored, sleek furniture!

7. Solid Color

A go-to when considering contemporary interior design, neutrals along with gray, black, and white, are a signature of the design style and are used to define and ground a room.

Black & White, Neutrals are the main colors in contemporary style interiors. The palette is often accented with bright & bold color. Black is often used to define the contemporary style room. With walls painted in a basic neutral, you can have an excellent backdrop for bold colored accessories. If the walls & windows are painted in pastels, the trims should be neutral. If a wall is a bright, bold color, neutrals should be used everywhere else!

  1. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s both equally educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. The issue is something not enough folks are speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy I stumbled across this in my search for something regarding this.
